What dental implant prices include
Of 570 London practices that publish a dental implant price, 353 make clear it includes the crown, and those prices run from £1,206 to £5,300 per tooth, with a middle price of £2,700 (checked October 2026). The other 217 do not say, so their price may cover only part of the treatment.
The three parts of an implant tooth
- The implant: a post, usually titanium, placed in the jaw bone.
- The abutment: the connector that joins the implant to the tooth on top.
- The crown: the visible tooth.
Some price lists show one figure for all three. Others list "implant placement" and the "implant crown" as separate lines, and some leave the crown out of the headline figure. A low implant price is not always a low price for a finished tooth.
How DentalCosts counts an implant price
We only use a price in our ranges when it includes the crown. If a practice lists the parts separately, we add them up and mark the price "summed"; 118 of the 353 prices in our London figures are summed. If a page does not say whether the crown is included, we still show the price on the practice's page, with a note, but leave it out of the range and the middle price.
254 of the 353 prices we count are "from" prices: the lowest the practice charges. Your own quote depends on your examination, so it may be higher.
What to ask before you agree a price
The General Dental Council requires dentists to give you a written treatment plan with costs before treatment starts, to update it in writing if it changes, and to tell you whether treatment is guaranteed and for how long. Use that plan to check:
- Does the price include the implant, the abutment and the crown?
- Are the consultation, X-rays and any scans included or charged separately?
- If your dentist says you need other treatment first, such as an extraction or bone grafting, what does that cost?
- Is a temporary tooth included while the implant heals?
- How many follow-up and review appointments are included?
- Is the work guaranteed, for how long, and on what conditions?
Whether you need any of these is a clinical question for your dentist; the point is to know the full cost in writing before you start.
Full-arch implants
Prices for a full arch of teeth fixed on implants (All-on-4 or similar) are per arch, not per tooth, and are shown separately on All-on-4 dental implants cost. Ask the same questions, plus whether the price is for a fixed bridge and whether a temporary bridge is included.
Implants on the NHS
The NHS says implants are usually only available privately, and rarely on the NHS for people who cannot wear dentures, for example after mouth cancer or an accident. NHS dentures and bridges are Band 3 treatment at £332.10 in England (checked 17 October 2026). See NHS dental charges.
